About Nirav Shah MD
Nirav J. Shah MD has many years of diverse experience in Orthopaedic Surgery.
He is passionate about what he does because his expertise in the field of joint replacement allows him to get people back on their feet and go back to their homes and active lifestyle. In his words, his goal is not just to fix his patients but also educate them and talk to them on a human level rather than in the capacity of a physician.
Dr. Shah grew up in Southern California and following high school at Webb School of California in Claremont, he travelled to the east coast to study Biomechanical Engineering at Columbia University in New York City.
He completed his medical education at Keck Medicine of the University of Southern California and is proud to consider himself a Trojan! But he is willing to see Bruins too! After obtaining his doctor of medicine degree, Dr. Shah completed an internship in general surgery at UT Southwestern in Dallas, TX after which he went on to complete his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY where he was Chief Resident and received the Paul Clarke Award for excellence in research.
Dr.Shah then continued his training at the Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute in Alexandria, VA where he gained additional training in Joint Replacement and Adult Reconstruction. Dr. Shah has been published in peer reviewed journals and written multiple book chapters on primary and revision joint replacement.

Dr. Shah, a former class treasurer of Columbia University and Co-Founder of The Habitat for Humanity Chapter at Columbia University and The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin: USC Chapter is an Orthopedic Surgeon and specializes in shoulder, knee and hip replacement. More specifically, his passions lie in:

He has been a part of many research projects and contributed to the research work of prestigious institutes such as the Huntington Medical Research Institute, Cardiac Biomechanics lab,USC Department of Orthopaedics and Upland Orthopaedics. He has also contributed to publications such as ‘Case Files Orthopedic Surgery’ and ‘The Hip: Preservation, Replacement and Revision’.
When he’s not working, Dr. Shah loves to spend time with his family, play golf and exploring all the world has to offer!
